Protecting the environment |

Consistent with the law we manage our operations to attain a continual decrease in the negative environment influences and the prevention of pollution. Therefore we have committed ourselves to:
- assess the impacts on the environment with every new operation;
- develop new products and services that are safe in production and use as well as their environment-friendly disposal;
- discontinue using hazardous substances;
- plan, design and operate tools and procedures with the maximum economical use of energy and raw materials and reduce the environmental load;
- consider prescribed pollution limit values when selecting new equipment and technology;
- monitor environmental influences and take steps in case of irregularities;
- educate, train and make all employees aware of working responsibly;
- co-operate with interested parties in an open and cultural dialogue and, consequently, contribute to the success of joint efforts invested by the company to improve environmental protection;
- encourage suppliers and contractors to use new environment management systems and respect environmental legislation; and
- announce our success to the public.
Our priority goals are:
- the economic use of energy, raw materials and natural resources;
- separate collection and recycling of waste to decrease the quantity of waste for disposal;
- the prevention of environmental pollution;
- substitution of hazardous substances with less hazardous ones;
- the training of employees on environmental issues.

Responsibility towards the environment will be further demonstrated by meeting legal requirements and upgraded by introducing state-of-the-art methods and standards for improving the environment management. We will strengthen the culture of preventing risk and encourage co-operation among all those involved in health and safety at work.
In planning and monitoring our future operations we will respect the principle that preserved nature is the best heritage for future generations.

Meeting the neighbours:
A systematic approach to the environment management according to the ISO 14001 standard includes communicating with interested parties. Ever since 1998 meetings with neighbours in the area Labore Kranj have been prepared to present achievements in relation to minimising impacts on the environment, novelties and improvements in the environmental protection, occupational safety and health, and our future plans in this field.
Fire safety:
A systematic approach to safety (environmental, health, fire) demonstrates favourable effects. The number of fires has significantly decreased recently. However, despite continual improvements, enhancing awareness, introduction of precautionary measures and their strict implementation, the risk still remains. Therefore, we regularly organise theoretical and practical trainings in individual companies of the Sava Group.
